I grew up in a house where fish is a pet. Ever since I could remember my dad is fond of taking care of house fish, we had a fair share of having goldfish, arowana, hammerhead shark, flowerhorn and koi. But if you’ll ask me if I’m fond of touching them my answer is NO. I am scared as hell that they will bite me or whatever.
Tibiao is actually famous for being the adventure capital of Antique. So when we had the chance to pass by Antique where the famous Tibiao Fish Spa (TFS) is located, I thought this would be a good chance to conquer this fear.
The fish spa offers three different tanks that houses level 1, level 2 and level 3 therapy fishes.
Level 1 is where small fishes are housed, mostly for relaxing purposes.
Look how tiny they are :)
The fishes in Level 2 are quiet a little larger than the Level 1 fishes. Its a little more ticklish compared to level 1:)
Look at the Level 3 tank:p
Bigger fishes! They say that these fishes can even remove calluses!
My family is enjoying the spa time:p
According to their website, fish spa is a form of ichthyotherapy that uses small fish to clean the skin. The fish is able to exfoliate our skin by feeding on the dead skin layer of our skin. Yeah it sound gross but it was quiet an experience. The fishes that they used for the fish spa are mostly breed in Antique thus it is more affordable than the fish spas that use imported therapy fishes.
Once you set foot on the tank, you will see that the fishes will madly swim going to your direction. At first it was scary and a little ticklish but once you get the hang of it you will feel very relaxed. According to our attendant the more fishes comes to your way, the stressed you are.
The overall experience was really relaxing; too bad we had to hit the road before the sun sets to be able to catch the RORO trip going back to Manila. The good news is Tibiao Fish Spa already has a branch in SM Iloilo and is also looking to expanding here in Manila. I’ll be surely back to TFS when I get the chance!

The level 3 tank is too much! I don't think I can put my feet in there. :|

Whoa! Ang daming isda, nakakatakot yung malalaki hehe. Looks fun though!
@MINAKICHU Yep,I don't care if it couldn't really remove dead skins as long as its relaxing I'm okay with it:D
@Ian Haha true nakakatakot talaga yun, feeling ko masusugat paa ko pag binabad ko dun:P
Parang hihimatayin ako sa Level 3. I'm actually afraid if fishes. I don't even eat them unless in filleted form already. I don't want to see the head or tail. But, yeah, this one is on my bucket list... but only level 1. lol

Nope I did not try it, I was scared hahaha! My brother and sister did try it and said it was also relaxing:)
I think I've seen something like this in a zoo in Singapore (but I couldn't be too sure). Yep, they said it will remove the dead skin cells. Poor fish! They don't know food from non-food. LOL! I will be too scared to put my feet in any of the tank. takot ako sa isda :( seriously.
Aww, I was scared myself :)
They already have it in SM City Iloilo.
Never tried it pero we did this ( somehow) while dipping in the cold spring of Camiguin. There were little fishes and kept on "nibbling" on our skin and I just learned that time that in Europe, luxury spas offer this type of therapy for those with skin problems...
Nice blog!
Yes they have a branch in Iloilo, I'm just not sure if the price is the same. Thanks Val!
